The Safety of Homeopathy in the Weaker Links — Children and the Elderly
Homeopathy is a safe, natural remedy to cure most depression problems. Whatever your symptoms are, there is more than likely a homeopathic drug to cure it. Homeopathy will work for almost anyone, and will cure all types of depression problems. The only thing is that you’ve got to be careful with homeopathic dosages because if prescribed an unnecessary drug, more symptoms can appear, and if you take way too much of a certain drug, it can even kill you. So… if you’ve got an elderly loved one or a child that is depressed, is homeopathy safe for them? Read and find out.
Homeopathic Risks
Even if you’re a healthy person with a strong body, the wrong dosages of homeopathic drugs can be harmful to your body and mind. That’s why experts are so careful to find out exact symptoms and measure out such exact dosages for prescriptions. If you are prescribed an unnecessary drug, the symptoms that drug is supposed to cure can actually appear in your body over time. If you take too much of a certain drug, such as highly poisonous Lachesis muta snake venom, it can thin out your blood and in some cases attack your heart and kill you. Another drug known as Kali Phosphoricum has been known to assist in the development of hepatitis, but experts are not sure of whether that drug was the leading cause of the development of the disease.
Side effects of these drugs are another thing to take into account. While most of the side effects are not very serious and will disappear over a short period of time, some of them can be potentially harmful, even to the strongest and healthiest of bodies. If these bodies have a hard time dealing with the side effects of certain drugs, prescribing them to young children and the elderly is certainly not advised.
Homeopathic Risks in the Elderly
The elderly usually don’t have bodies as strong or as healthy as middle-aged adults. Therefore, scientists must be even more careful when prescribing drugs to these people. If too much of a certain drug is prescribed, it can possibly kill the person. If certain symptoms appear that the elderly person does not expect, extreme cases can throw the person into cardiac arrest. Blood thinners are not wise for the elderly to take because it has been discovered that the blood thins out over time anyway. Older bodies are usually more fragile and weak, so they’ll be less able to fight off infections and side effects brought on by the homeopathic drugs as well. Also, the elderly might not want to participate in the prospect of taking drugs, and if the drugs are not taken according to the instructions in the prescription, it can pose new problems for these people.
Homeopathic Risks in Children
Young children are probably most susceptible to the risks of homeopathic drugs and their side effects. Their bodies are relatively new, so they’ll be fairly able to fight off disease, but not as well as a strong, young adolescent or a middle-aged adult. Fortunately, this is not much of a worry in the homeopathic field simply because it is rare to find a young child that is depressed. If a young child is depressed, they usually do not need drugs to help them. Depression in young children normally does not last long, but if it does, the support of friends and family could be enough to help them through their problems. Young children usually eat right (whether or not they want to) and are generally quite active, so this is a plus on the side of fighting depression for them. Drugs are not usually prescribed to young children for depression.
